The latest demotion hearing for Police Chief Joe Swanson got underway on Monday morning, March 2 before the Woodstock Village Trustees.
The hearing was recessed around 5 p.m. and is set to resume at the same location on Tuesday, March 3, at 9 a.m.
The hearing is being held at the Woodstock Masonic Lodge at 30 Central St. in Woodstock.
Municipal Manager Eric Duffy, who wants Swanson demoted, was the lone witness on the stand throughout the duration of Monday’s hearing.
Public viewing was permitted in person on a first-come, first-served basis. This will remain the case for Tuesday’s proceedings.
For those who could not attend in person, the hearing was streamed live via Zoom.
At times, there were an estimated 90+ connections on the live Zoom feed, with viewers experiencing intermittent bouts of disruption in the connection due to a construction project in the vicinity of the Masonic Lodge.
