Summer is a great time to be outdoors in Brownsville

Summer has brought such beautiful weather to us in the Ascutney Valley! It is a great time to enjoy the great outdoors. The Brownsville Beautification Committee has painted the local canvas with flowers of bright colors to put our best foot forward. As I drive through town I see the local summer adventure camp walking from Albert Bridge playground up to Ascutney Outdoors, and it appears that enrollment was a great success!

Heading east, I see what I affectionately call, Windsor’s Walking Camp (otherwise known as the Windsor Rec Camp) walking to Kennedy Pond, to enjoy the wonderful weather. I stopped by the Recreation Department last week and I want to let everyone know that there is no fee to use Kennedy Pond, although on these nice days, it may be difficult to find room to park (may I suggest you car pool).

Zippy has been barking up a storm at the Dog Park (Paradise Bark) in the early morning and/or later in the evening because I do not want her to get overheated. I appreciate all those who use this dog park because it is very clean, thank you for cleaning up after your dog. It is a great bunch of pups who always welcome a new addition to the group!

You may have noticed a large gathering at the Fairgrounds this past Saturday, it was the New England Veterans getting together for a barbecue. We had a wonderful time getting together. I encourage everyone to contact a friend and do something fun with one another.

Make a plan to have breakfast at Rachel’s Kitchen at the Rachel Harlow Methodist Church in Windsor this Friday. I am cooking omelets (they have a great variety of fillings…and I will bring jalapenos for those who like some kick); this mission is open from 7-9:30 a.m. Hope to see you there!

Much has happened in the past few weeks on the political front nationally, which makes me so grateful to live in Vermont (generally) and more specifically, Brownsville, because we are a community that works together and cares about our neighbors!

I will soon have a bevy of new neighbors as the short-term housing (tiny house) is coming along…looks like they will have vacationers by fall foliage

Please be kind and be cognizant that this is a world which could use your smile. Share it with everyone you meet.

Happy Birthday to my son! If you would like to share your special day…let me know.
