State Sen. Clarkson announces plans to retire

After 22 years in office, State Senator for the Windsor District, Alison Clarkson, has announced her plans to retire at the end of this legislative session.

During the Woodstock Town Meeting last Saturday, Clarkson addressed her constituents, saying, “I’ve served you first for twelve years in the House, and now ten years in the Senate.” She continued, “I’m currently the chair of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Housing and General Affairs. We have a huge jurisdiction, from consumer protection, labor, liquor, lottery, cannabis, housing, [and] economic development. It’s a big jurisdiction, and I love it.”

During her speech to the residents of Woodstock, Clarkson addressed several issues she and her fellow state senators are currently focused on, from protecting Vermonters’ civil liberties and civil rights to protecting them from federal budget cuts, to working to ensure Vermont has a sustainable public education system.
