On a rain-soaked Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, the Woodstock boys soccer team fell to the visiting Hartford Hurricanes, 3-0.
The Wasps battled hard in the first half, focusing on keeping the visitors out of scoring territory. Two big saves from Woodstock senior goalkeeper Owen Whalen (6-of-9) helped send the game into halftime tied 0-0.
But Hartford’s halftime adjustments proved too much for the home squad. Goals by Hartford’s freshman Max Capurso, junior Colin Morlock and sophomore Jackson Jewett gave the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead. Woodstock senior Sam Bowdoin kept pushing until the end with several scoring chances, but none found the net.
Woodstock will look to get back on track Monday at Stratton.
